Doctors unsure what is wrong with me, do you think I will have problems having kids?

have 5 cysts on my right ovary and my doctor told me thatI could either have endometriosis (which he doubts because he says I am too young (19)) or poy cystic syndrome (which I don’t match any of the syptoms except the cyst. I ma not over weight, have never had acne. I have had sever to moderate pain in my lower abdomenal area and hrorible cramps during my period. I also have had migraines and really weird cycles. ( every 3 motnhs and 10 days at a time and very heavy) I have been on birth control for that. My question is Will it be difficult for me to have children if I have either one of these? And do you know anyone with these symptons, if so what is wrong with them? Personally I don’t think I am too young to have endometerosis.

I have had the cysts constintly for over a year.
i mean will i have trouble getting preg. I’ve heard that.
I’ve been to 6 doctors, had a c-tscan, ultrasound, 2 pap smears, 4 pelvic exams!!
please DO NOT just tell me to go to the dr. you are wasting my time. If that’s all you have then don’t answer!

Listen to the doctor. If he/she hasn’t said, don’t worry about it.

I think you need to get a different doctor!

Try to find a reproductive endocrinologist in your area. You can be treated! The younger the better!!!

    Good luck! :)

Honey only doctors can answer this.

My question would be to the doc, why are they not removing your affected ovary? If it is causing you this much pain??? You will still be able to get pg with one ovary, but cut your chances by 50%.

Get a second opinion hon! You can check with up to 2 doctors for every insurance .. i believe that’s the policy

Find another doctor and see what he/she says.. but dont tell them what your original doctor told you

    good luck

Don’t let them tell you that you’re too young to have endometriosis. My older sister was 11 years old with ovarian cysts the size of oranges. She obviously had to undergo certain treatments for it including birth control pills and surgery. She used to worry about being able to have kids, but now she’s 34 years old and has a 6 year old girl and an 8 month old boy.

my advice is to listen carefully to the doctors, and if they dont give you a straight awnser, then just see them every week and ask the same question. :)

These are questions I’d ask my doctor if I were you. If your current doctor is unsure, I think for your best interest, you should definitely get a second opinion. Try seeing a different doctor. A site that always helps me is http://www.webmd.com. I go there to find out more about certain symptoms I may be experiencing at a given time.

Hope it works, but definitely seek out a different doctor.

I have the same symptoms, and I had not problem getting preg with my first daughter, and then it took 10 years to get preg with my second. There is a chance that you will not have any problems, but the statistics say that you will have a much higher possiblity of being infertile.

i am no medical expert but i stayed at the holiday inn and i am old and experienced. i have heard of your problem. i have heard of it many times. i recall the women who had your problem did not have children. but you will have visit a real md whom must have diagnosed your problem, still, you are unsure and isn’t that life? we are never sure. good luck.

Im not sure but my cousin is going thru the same thing right now. The doctors told her (shes 22) that she may not be able to have kids. I’m really worried about her.

Sorry I couldnt really help, but I think you should feel like you are not alone. Good luck with everything.

First of all you are not too young for Endometriosis. Second, find another doctor. Five cysts is not a good thing and they can be doing irreversible damage. You need to know why you develop the cysts in the first place and this will probably solve your irregular periods or at least explain them.

It sure sounds like endometriosis. Sufferers do have a difficult time getting pregnant, but your chances of conceiving will improve if you get treatment early. The problem, as you know, is that a lot of doctors don’t know much about it and it tends to be misdiagnosed (lots of women get told that it’s all in their head), and by the time they see someone who knows what’s going on the scarring has really made getting pregnant difficult. If you think this is the problem, find a specialist and see them ASAP. Good luck.

My advice to you would be to get a second opinion.

get a new doctor. no one is too young, you are simply so young that the probability is low for you but still it is possible. Your chances of getting pregnant wont drop by 50% if you have one ovary removed, it just means that your body will only be capable of producing half as many eggs over your entire lifetime.

Removal of a diseased ovary may very well make your periods more normal and cut down on the pain you are going through with each period.
